10 to Try Reading Challenge

Challenge yourself to read something new! Take our annual reading challenge.

How it Works

Sign up for the challenge. Or, pick up a 10 to Try bookmark at your library.

Read one book in each of this year’s 10 categories by December 31, 2023.

Complete all 10 categories online. Or, send a photo of your completed bookmark to 10totry@kcls.org to finish the challenge.

Finishers are entered into a drawing for a set of books chosen for you by a librarian.

The Challenge Categories

  1. That you have always meant to read or reread
  2. In translation
  3. Features your favorite season
  4. About a disaster or weather event
  5. Focuses on a person with an illness or disability
  6. Explores a culture other than your own
  7. About a sport or sports figure
  8. About a friendship
  9. About art or an artist
  10. Recommended by staff

  • 10 to Try is a year-long reading challenge. Read a book in each of 10 categories, track your reading, and share your favorites with the library and your fellow readers.
